Who You'll Work With
You’ll be joining the Casablanca office and our McKinsey Digital team.
With already more than 10 digital practitioners, and an extensive network of experts to leverage inside the firm, we are in an ambitious scale-up phase. During the last 3 years, we delivered 20+ major digital projects in Morocco and Francophone Africa. We help clients across data-rich industries (e.g., financial services, pharma, retail, telco) answer the most critical questions related to their customer strategy in a digital world.
Consultants affiliated to the analytics practice within McKinsey help bring the best of the firm to our clients in terms of applying advanced analytics tools and techniques to solve some of the most challenging, data-driven business problems. Solving analytics problems often requires the application of mathematical modeling, data mining, statistical and operations research techniques across multiple industries.
Our work across the analytics landscape is driven by experts with a broad range of analysis, coding, modelling, design, and system-architecture disciplines. We apply these to achieve measurable and outsize impact on real-world problems such as reducing crime, improving healthcare, optimizing manufacturing, and improving customer experiences.
Examples around the world include a team that enabled a major pharmaceutical client in Europe to reduce trial times for a pharmaceutical client by 15 percent (a significant improvement in an industry in which each extra day of a trial can cost the company $1 million), while improving safety along the way. Also, in the U.S., a team simulated mining operation to identify the bottlenecks with the highest waiting times for a North American gold mining client, identifying opportunities to raise capacity by 20-40 percent. In China, a team developed a route-optimization and scheduling model for one of the largest logistics companies to address its supply-and-demand needs and reduce cost, vehicle demand, and distance travelled. It resulted in a lowered carbon footprint and hard cost savings of 65 percent. What You'll Do
You will work through our clients’ entire data ecosystem to understand what’s available, what’s missing - and where to find and collect that information.
You will develop, implement and maintain effective models describing complex phenomena our clients are interested in to better inform their decision making. Your work will help find meaning where human analysts stall. You’ll analyze data out of disparate data sources, often time finding insights in an unexpected highly impactful manner simply by describing those large datasets.
Working with teams of highly trained data engineers and architects, you will leverage cutting edge big data platforms (e.g. containerized Hadoop data lakes, S3 based tech stacks in the cloud) to analyze impressively large data sets to better predict global market shifts, customer behaviors, banking fraud events, and even improving safety in large industrial installations by detecting fires and incidents from video feeds.
You will recruit, develop and retain top analytics talent in order to build Casablanca Data community, and you'll have the opportunity to mentor and coach junior colleagues in becoming successful analytics consultants. You will work to create a non-hierarchical and collaborative environment.
You will make sure to use the most relevant and modern technologies on all domains. At your fingertips, you’ll have access to cutting-edge user-friendly tools ready to extract, blend, and process data from multiple sources either in memory or in-database (e.g. Alteryx, Pentaho, Talend). You will leverage the latest in open-source technologies for big data warehousing, massive data transfers and processing, and build models by training algorithms on platforms running learning routines directly on data lakes (e.g. Apache Spark, Apache Flint, Amazon Kinesis, Apache Storm, etc.).
You will learn, grow and radiate your knowledge leveraging all the tools of McKinsey Digital best-in-class international experts, advanced learning and training programs, huge knowledge capitalization all over the firm.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop a strong base of expertise and knowledge in this sector whilst delivering real client impact. This role is on our 'Expert’ career track, including Fellow, Specialist, Expert, Senior Expert and Partner Expert level. They are consultants who maintain cutting edge expertise, often in a fairly specialized field. Growing this population is a strategic priority for the firm as clients demand more and deeper industry and functional expertise.
